Just when we thought we’d pulled out of the drought, we’ve sunk back in…Don’t count on the weatherman’s predictions of rain because it’s not happening!! Turf and Trees are really starting to stress especially considering they’ve just barely recovered from the last drought. Please make sure you’re watering turfgrass a minimum of 4-5 days per week with your irrigation systems. Remember, Irrigation is not sufficient for watering trees!! Trees, even mature trees must be deeply watered a minimum of 1-2 days per week in drought periods. Deep watering means to saturate around the entire tree for at least 1 hour at a slow trickle. I recommend placing your hose approx. 3-4′ out from the base of the tree and letting it run for 30 minutes, then move your hose to the other side of the tree and run for another 30 minutes.
