Ash Trees – Emerald Ash aren’t their only predators

Brownheaded ash sawflies are another threat to ash trees this year. They haven't been active for a few years but they seem to be back in some trees that are prone to sawflies. Give us a call if you see a bunch of holes in your leaves. They are the larvae eating off the foliage of the ash trees. We are able to spray an insecticide to safely remove the sawflies and discontinue the damage they bring on.

Creepy Crawlers!

Have you seen a rise in the amount of crawling critters in your home? Unreasonably wet weather is mostly to blame. With more rain than usual this year we have seen a rise of insects seeking dry shelter inside homes.

If you're in need of a pest control treatment plan, give us a call at 913-829-6135 and we can have our Pest Manager, Jim, come out and take care of those creepy crawlers.

Fuel Surcharge

Welcome back for another great season! Due to the increase in gas prices Aspen is going to have to implement a fuel surcharge to all lawn care services. You will see this on your next invoice. As soon as prices fall again we will remove this fee. If you have any questions or concerns please call the Aspen Lawn Care office at 913-829-6135.

Thank you for your understanding and continued service.

The Big Move

It is time to start preparing your outdoor houseplants for the big move indoors.  In not too long the freezes will hit and your plants will need to be safe inside to avoid frostbite.  Before the move I would recommend spraying them with an insecticide (2 rounds) such as Seven or Orthenex to kill off all the insects whom have made new homes.  Also this is a good time for slowing acclimating your plants to less sunlight.  Move the plants from full sun to filtered sun for a week and then again into shade before moving them indoors.

Above Ground Backflows

As Justin has stated a couple days ago, our schedules are filling up fast for the winterazation of irrigation systems.  Those of you with above ground backflows need to pay strict attention to the weather outlook in the upcoming weeks.  Once it starts freezing in the nighttime hours, your system is at risk for breaks and damages.  It is something that can be easily prevented but many procrastinate in scheduling.  To help you out Aspen is creating a list of above ground backflow owners and are watching the temperatures for you.  We will contact you as a reminder for
