Sod MUST be watered

We are busy laying sod down on our new landscapes and this is important information.  Sod must be watered immediately after it has been installed.  You must begin watering sod immediately and do not wait until the next day!  Proper watering is essential to the establishment of your new sod.  During the first week, keep the soil beneath completly soaked- it is almost impossible to over water during this period.  As a general guide, water 3-4 times a day during this critical first week.  Watering times should be approximately 15-25 minutes.  These numbers may need to be increased during hot weather.  If water starts to puddle, cut back on the watering time.  During the second week it may be reduced gradually allowing soil to firm.  This will make it possible for you to mow toward the end of the second week.  After three weeks your sod should be established and may now start your normal watering routine.

After sod is installed:

Stay off new sod for at least 14 days.

Mow after two weeks with your power mower set to the highest cutting height.  Never mow more than a 1/3 of the height of the grass.

Fertilizer can be applied but must be followed by a thorough watering routine.

Control your pets.  Urine spots and foot printing on soft, soggy sod may cause permanent problems.

Warranty!

Sod does not carry a warranty.  It is purchased green, live and healthy.  It is the homeowner's responsiblility to water and treat sod properly.
